New employee newsletter HB INTERN
The first edition of HB INTERN, the in-house employee newsletter, was distributed on April 2nd.
The in-house newsletter will be published 4 times a year, and a special edition is also planned for special occasions.
It will inform all Service & Print Group Haberbeck employees about current activities, planned events, feedback from the market (whether from customers or business experts), and the results of KAIZEN workshops.

Service & Print Group Haberbeck now works according to the principles of kaizen.
Many of our most loyal customers have practiced kaizen for years, and are very successful.
Service & Print Group Haberbeck is now following their example, and has also adopted the kaizen way of thinking. In the past few weeks, first the managers from Technology, Sales, and Marketing were informed about the coming kaizen processes, and then they worked in small groups on assigned topics in the area of quality improvement.
Striving for continuous improvement is one of the primary goals of the in-house processes, and employees are to implement kaizen in company operations on a daily basis, in order to ask: "What can I do even better tomorrow?" Because this is the only way to ensure customer satisfaction.

Some changes have taken place at Haberbeck.
MBO at Haberbeck
Haberbeck, more than 100 years young and very well known, was transferred to new ownership – the three previous co-partners – retroactively as of 1 January 2007.

The chief partners of the family company, Christian Haberbeck and Christina Haberbeck, are leaving the Board of Partners.
This fulfilled both partners' wish to leave the company: current Managing Partner Christian Haberbeck wanted to reorient his life and set new career goals, and Christina Haberbeck had experienced changes in her private life.
With this, the group of partners had to be reorganised. The goal was an MBO process driven by active partners, which would give Haberbeck more the character of a mid-sized company. This innovative solution was successfully implemented.
The previous co-partners Bernd-Hartmut Petersen, Bernd Windmann and Gerhard Hollmann took over the respective shares.
The three new "old" partners have been directing managers for many years and are looking forward to their new challenge.
Bernd-Hartmut Paulsen, Partner of Druckhaus Haberbeck GmbH, Managing Director and Partner of Vier plus Pro Graphik GmbH and Pro Data System GmbH, was appointed Managing Director of Druckhaus Haberbeck GmbH and of Marktdienste Haberbeck GmbH. He supports continuing close cooperation within the complete service concept.

150 Guests at Druckhaus Haberbeck
("Druck & Medien", October 2006 and newsletter of 20 Sept. 2006)

The Haberbeck annual symposium has taken place for the 20th time. While welcoming around 150 guests to Burg Blomberg, Managing Director Christian Haberbeck recalled previous events which had been outstanding due to their varied subjects and the high-quality speakers such as Herber Henzler, Hermann Simon, Norbert Walter or Reinhold Würth. ?Axel Ockenfels from Cologne University spoke on "Market Design and Decisionmaking – Using Modern Game Theory." The young star economist and winner of the Leibniz Prize fascinated his audience with an informative, descriptive lecture. Game theory has been well received by a variety of scientific disciplines. Based on numerous examples from his own consulting work at companies such as eBay, he explained how relevant game theory research is for practical situations. ?After the lecture, the guests, many of whom had come from afar, rounded off the evening with an Italian buffet until the early hours of the morning.

Haberbeck and ImpulsPrint establish a sales cooperation
ImpulsPrint Gesellschaft für kreative Werbemittel mbH from Stuttgart is the new sales and marketing partner of Haberbeck, the well-known sheet and web offset printing company in Lage/Lippe. This step in the direction of a closer partnership is the result of successful collaboration in the past few years: it is a sign of mutual trust, and has the goal of enabling closer support of customers in Southern Germany. Bernhard Maier and Lothar Roth of ImpulsPrint are the right partners for combining creativity and technology to realise unusual, high-quality printed products.

Presentation of "Druck & Medien Awards"
("Druck & Medien", October 21, 2005)

For the first time, the trade magazine Druck & Medien has awarded prizes honouring the achievements of companies and individuals in the German printing industry. The awards – including three Gold Awards – spanned a total of 18 categories and were conferred at a glittering gala in Berlin.
The ceremony at the Grand Hyatt hotel on Berlin’s Potsdamer Platz was attended by around 300 guests from all areas of the sector. The manufacturing and supply segments were represented alongside Germany’s mid-market printers and media service providers. The event was hosted by the popular TV talk show host Sonya Kraus. Special guest Björn Engholm, the former education minister and long-time Minister President of Schleswig-Holstein, presented a tribute to the winners.
Hans-Bernd Lohaus of Silfox Holding was declared the "Printing Company Manager of the Year", with the Gold Award for "Printer of the Year" going to the Rob. Leunis & Chapman group. However, the big winner of the night was the printing company Haberbeck from Lage, which scooped the honours in the categories "Customer and Sales Team of the Year" and "Finishing Team of the Year". The company from the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region also took home the Gold Award for "Team of the Year".
The Rob. Leunis & Chapman group also scored a second notable success. In addition to the Gold Award for "Printer of the Year", the Berlin-based company was crowned "Packaging Printer of the Year". Laudert Innovative Medientechnik of Vreden, near Hamburg, was also honoured with two awards, the Münsterland company triumphing in the categories "Prepress Team of the Year" and "Most Innovative Company of the Year".
"We are very pleased with the almost 100 nominations for the inaugural Druck & Medien Awards", declared Andrea Bötel, Chief Editor of Druck & Medien. "I’d like to thank the sponsors whose commitment enabled us to present the awards in this fashion. We hope the awards will stand as a clear and positive symbol of a high-performing sector."

Druckhaus Haberbeck Prizewinner in the first German Printing Industry Innovation Award 2004
At a celebratory event held at the drupa 2004, the world's largest trade fair for the entire print and media industry, the "Verlag Deutscher Drucker" announced the winners of the first German Printing Industry Innovation Award 2004 on 14 May this year. The award is in recognition of innovative printing products and companies as well as technological solutions. "I am particularly pleased that the German printing industry's first innovation award is being presented on the occasion of the thirteenth Drupa" said the Federal Minister of Economics, Wolfgang Clement in his opening speech. The prize is, in his words, "an excellent idea".
Well-known companies were in the running in the category of "most innovative graphic design company". In the third category: self-marketing (over 100 employees), three prizes were awarded. The independent expert jury awarded "Druckhaus Haberbeck" a very respectable 2nd prize.
According to the jury, the entries in the category of "Most innovative graphic design company" highlighted the potential existing within the industry. Thus the staff of "Druckhaus Haberbeck" are pleased that their work in the national competitive arena is being recognised in this way.
